I've revisited DBGridEh (trial 6) today. While there are many impressive features I am unable to get any sort of DBlookup to work and have more less surrendered to the fact that there is no easy way to this. By example

Main table has a file categoryID. The description (lookup) records for categoryID are in table tblcategories.

How can I present the user with a drop down combo the display the categories for selection?

Is there an easy way to place a dbdatetime picker component in the grid?

Is there a demo?

If there is a way, it would be useful to describe it in the documentation.

Incidentally, the help file isn't. Helpful, that is. It won't work on Win7 or 8.

Cheers

Hello

DBGridEh offers to use classic way of working with lookups.
Which is as follows:
Create lookup field in the DataSet and assign it to the Column.FieldName
After that you can make detailed settings using Column properties.

Unfortunately, there are no special ways to put external editors in the Grid.
We are working on it. Surely, such possibility will appear at one of the next versions.

There are a lot of demos in the <EhLib Archive>\Demos\

Yes, Win7 and 8 by default does't provide soft to open hlp files.
We are working on the new version of help files.
There is "EhLib Users Guide.doc" that contains a lot of help information.

... pity. That's a deal breaker for me. BTW, if you are implementing a datetime picker please consider one that handles null values correctly, ie the field show blank, not day 0?

But I'll keep an eye out. There's lots to like about this grid.

Cheers

Hello

Datetime picker exists in the grid cell, and it allows to select Date from Calendar.
Inplace editor in grid cell is not as flexible as in TDBDateTimeEditEh but it have Calendar.

Describe your problem with null values for Date fields in detail or send a demo project.
Maybe it's a solvable problem.
Grid usually doesn't show '0' for null Date values. It is shown as blank string.

Best regards
Admin.
